Alvida, 2010! Yo, 2011!

Here it is. The last post of 2010. It's not special and doesn't stand out from my thousands of non-existent posts. So, what should I write ? Should I recap my year ? Do a self-reflective post about how I improved and other blah philosophical stuff? Or list down the new year resolutions which I will make and won't keep ?

I had some highs this year.  Like getting into the merit list after sucking in the prelims in my boards, like making my best friends in Nagpur when I least expected it (summer tuitions), finally meeting my twitter pals and having a great year gadget wise as well (pics below), making the decision to pursue a degree abroad(that life-changing decision hopefully? ), giving my first band performance and a couple of other things which I shouldn't mention publicly... :P . There's a smaller 'lows' list too but who wants to remember their sadder moments so let's skip that.

I am just going to share my favorite poem here. The poem which struck a chord with me wasn’t among all the other poems which I have been forced to read by my teachers, read for research or endured because it was being recited by a pretty girl. I heard this poem in the movie Invictus and abso-frickin-lutely loved it. Here it is:

Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

-William Ernest Henley

As great as 2010 was, I am sure the coming years will be even better. Sounds kinda cheesy, but I do hope so.  I wish all the awesome people reading this (because you read my blog :P) a very Happy New Year ! Go and be awesome! :D
